The Frank Gillen Centre officially opened on 2nd December 1994 and is run and administered by The Divis Joint Development Committee. Frank Gillen was a community activist who died on 1st Sept 1994, prior to the opening of the new building. He was a tireless worker on behalf of the local community. In particular Frank was concerned to see community facilities and services progress from the shadows of the infamous high rise flats comlex in Divis to pro-active community initiatives tailored to meet the needs of the local people.
